Scottish Water gives Globalstar Spot Gen3 devices to lone workers

Globalstar Europe Satellite Services announced that Scottish Water has deployed more than 250 Spot Gen 3 satellite messengers to protect employees working alone in remote areas with non-existent or unreliable mobile coverage.

With 49 remote-working teams already using Spot, Scottish Water is now offering devices to all other employees registered as lone workers. The Spot Gen3 devices communicate over Globalstar's LEO satellite network and were procured by Scottish Water through reseller Global Telesat Communications (GTC).
The devices have been pre-configured with two services – a one-touch SOS button for emergencies; and a help button for non-life threatening situations, like a flat tyre. By pressing either button, a user's precise GPS location is sent to Scottish Water's internal communications centre, which will either call emergency services or finds a nearby team to help their colleague.
