Discovery to launch HGTV channel on FTA in Italy

Discovery Italia is preparing to launch a new TV channel called Home & Garden TV (HGTV) on the country's free-to-air DTT network, having acquired a frequency from publisher De Agostini Editore. The latter's Alpha channel closed down on 21 December and will be replaced by Discovery's existing Motor Trend network on channel position number 56, with the new HGTV channel occupying position number 56 starting on 02 February 2020.

HGTV is already present in several countries and primarily airs reality programming related to home improvement and real estate. It will join Discovery Italia's 8 other channels and will also be available on its Dplay streaming platform
