Eutelsat quantifies financial impact of fault found on 5 West B satellite
The Eutelsat 5 West B satellite, launched on 10 October 2019, will enter service later this month operating at only 45 percent of its originally planned capacity. Following the investigation announced soon after launch, Eutelsat said that the satellite should still meet its designed life span, despite the damage suffered by one of the two solar arrays. It also confirmed that the satellite is covered against the eventuality of a partial or total loss by "launch-plus-one-year" insurance for up to EUR 173 million.
