Freeview problems continue due to winter weather

The UK's digital terrestrial TV platform Freeview says that people around the country are experiencing reception problems because of high-pressure weather conditions.

Freeview's free-to-air channels include those from the BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5 and ITV, as well as many others.
The website Downdetector has thousands of comments from viewers reporting that they can't access channels at all, or that the picture is distorting
Due to high-pressure weather conditions TV signals travel longer distances, so TV transmitters from the continent are now interfering with the Freeview signals.
The distortion stated earlier this week and is likely to continue at least for a few days. "At the moment, it looks as though these conditions may continue throughout the week," Freeview said in a statement.
"Viewers experiencing difficulty can still watch live and on-demand TV through players such as BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub on an internet connected Freeview Pla y TV or one that has players available to view."
